Plas Y Brenin - ready to reopen!
It’s here! And boy is it orange….
November time last year we received a white water kit drop consisting of a Deluxe X3 cag, Storm Pants X3 and a White Water spray deck each to add to the River Wrap BA’s, Freeride jacket, Combi (short sleeve) and Tourlite Short jackets to see us as staff at Plas Y Brenin fully ready to take people out on the rivers. The recent drop of kit was all aimed at the sea kayaking, canoeing and touring provision. We’ve all now got an Ocean wrap BA, Adventure Double Evo and Explorer Salopettes for on the water and a beanie, cap, hoodie and t shirt to keep us looking extra fly off the water.
The partnership we have with Peak UK is invaluable and allows us to provide a variety of courses from introductory level to higher-end leader and coach courses. It’s not just us instructors with the fancy pants kit, our stores is full of kit that get used by customers throughout the year. We’re lucky enough to be able to supply a Centre Long John wetsuit, Tourlite Hoodie jacket or Semi Long depending on comfort/or which course you’re on (Semi Long for white water course and Tourlite for canoe or sea kayak course), River Guide BA (mostly used for white water courses and rescue courses) or River Vest BA and a Standard Spraydeck is all available to be borrowed through stores. Talking about stores, when on one of our courses the kit your using can be purchased (brand new, not our stock kit) as well as some of the often forgotten items designed to keep you happy on the water, things like Pogies and Neoskin Socks - taken for granted but no one likes cold feet…. If It’s not in stock we can get it fairly easily.
Even the taster day and adventure day equipment is now fully Peak’d, we’ve re-stocked everything for the day drop in provision. Centre cags to keep the wind off and the simple but brilliant Centre Zip PFD’s keep people safe and floating on our lake if it all goes swimmingly.
Thanks to the ongoing support from Peak UK we can provide courses from grass root participation up to advanced courses, coach education and leader trainings and assessments as well as keep the paddle-sport department warm, dry and happy while out doing their job. We all use Peak equipment while out boating for ourselves as we’re that happy in it. As you can tell we’re all kit dweebs here at PYB and love talking kit as well as sharing the special places here in North Wales. We get to do all of this again residentially from the 29th of May. We can’t wait….
