The Freeride jacket has been an ever popular garment within our line up, as a staple of intermediate and expert paddlers alike. For 2026 the Freeride features a new midweight fabric, lightweight inner waist which is welded ( seam sealed ) in place, side pocket with gear clip and Bioprene outer wrist cones. Available in a cool black and brilliant bright red colour ways, the Freeride is ideal for almost all conditions. Not only available in Mens (S-XXL) and Women’s (W10-18) sizing, but also available in Kidz sizes, K10, K12 and K14 this is possibly the largest run of sizes we’ve ever produced for a single garment! Freeride for All…

The Freeride Jacket is manufactured with a breathable and durable X2.5 midweight recycled nylon fabric, with 20m waterproofing and a breathability rating of 5,000 g/m2/24hrs .b1. The PFAS free DWR outer finish, is a common element of our technical lineup of More Sustainable garments. Camouflaged as a single waist sealed jacket, the Freeride has an internal waist seal that is welded in place. What does this mean? and what’s the net benefit? With a welded inner waist there’s no sewing holes punctured into the main fabric to hold the inner waist in place. Without sewing holes theres no requirement for seam sealing to be employed to cover up the ‘damage’ caused! Ultimately leading to be a better performing garment. This non-strain bearing welded seam, is twice seam sealed in place for improved longevity. Rigorously tested in the Mexican whitewater jungle by our team paddler Gav Barker, the Freeride has stood up to a brutal amount of kayaking adventures.

New addition for 2026 to the Freeride is the introduction of Bioprene outer wrist cones, replacing the former Bioprene Velcro wrist closures. These sleek, low profile outer wrists cones are super easy to fit, comfortable to wear, help the inner latex seal with keeping water out and are More Sustainable. Winner all-round!

The infamous Bioprene neck cone, with internal elastic tensioner, continues to provide the right balance of being a reliable semi-dry neck seal for whitewater paddling that at the same time avoids that unwanted neck rub caused with prolong use of a latex alternative. Super stretch Bioprene teamed with the elastic tensioner delivers all day comfort out on the water.

One of our aims over the past few years has been to properly understand and develop a range of sizes specific for women within paddlesport, that’ll cater for as many active women as possible - producing the best technical apparel possible in sizes that’ll properly work. Research undertaken at #shepaddles events, data gathered from our sizing questionnaire from a global audience, and endless rounds of sampling for the girls in the office to trial has lead us to launch the 2026 Freeride Jacket in an unprecedented 13 sizes! 5 sizes for men, 5 sizes for women and 3 sizes ideal for kids. Quite possibly the largest collection of sizes for a single garment in paddlesport apparel history.
